Tool for chopping/mincing veggies?

Filed under: Electric Food Processors — admin at 9:31 pm on Saturday, March 5, 2011

I’ve always just used a knife for cutting veggies. However, now it seems that my kids are more likely to eat the veggies (in soups, sauces, etc), if they are finely chopped.

I don’t really want to get a food processor unless it’s the only way to go. Any other suggestions for choppers/mincers you love and use often?

I would use it for items like carrots, onions, etc. Thanks!

What's the onion secret?

Filed under: Electric Food Processors — admin at 1:33 pm on Friday, March 4, 2011

I am so sick of onions making my eyes burn. I love them so much, but I despise having to prepare them for any meal. Even if I put them in my food processor the fumes are just so overpowering I have to leave the room and press a clean towel on my eyes. So, I ask you, my fellow Yahoo!ers, to share with me your onion secrets. Can’t wait to hear what you all have to say!

Recipe for vegetarian meatballs/burgers etc?

Filed under: Electric Food Processors — admin at 6:19 pm on Monday, January 31, 2011

So, I’m looking for a fairly general recipe that I can use to make veggie burgers, meatballs, etc, etc. The one in my cook book calls for beans, onions, oats, chili powder, an egg, just things like that. ANy other ideas? Thanks!
Also, I’d prefer one I can make by hand, since all the ones in my cook book called for a food processor.

question for a chef?

ok, I am about to make Fish Stew, and it says in the recipe to fine chop the onions and celery. should I use a knife, or could I use a food processor? Which would be better from a professional point of view or for more flavor?

PoP qUiZ: What is the best vegetable chopper to buy, and where?

Filed under: Electric Food Processors — admin at 11:07 am on Thursday, January 6, 2011

I would like to purchase a vegetable chopper (not food processor) that will cut celery and onions (without mashing). I have tried numerous times to use my food processor…never does what I want it to do. I want to cut celery, onion, pickles, etc. for stuffing, tuna salad, casseroles, etc. Any suggestions on an electric chopper that works fast, simple and is not real expensive? Thanks. :)
I have "knife and cutting board." I want something that is "quick" and efficient.
